Congratulations are in store for America’s sweethearts and fairy tale personalities, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Yesterday they publicly announced their engagement. I wish them all the happiness that the Universe has in store for them. I am not a “Swiftie”, but have twin granddaughters who are. I watch football, and since Patrick is replacing Brady in my heart, Travis better get his Gronk on. KC is working on it, but back to the post.
I also wish the World all the happiness that the Universe has in store for the World. In a perfect timing fashion, we have a tender and heartfelt news item when the rest of the world seems to be going crazy. I can’t blame the “dog days of summer” or even the “mad dogs and Englishmen” who venture out in the heat of the day. It is just that the world is not making much sense right now.
In the past couple of years, Taylor and Travis found something and someone precious to their souls. Love and each other. In this world of 90 day-something-or-other shows, their football season romance was touching. The cheerleader and the star athlete. The damsel in the tower urging on her knight. The stuff Hallmark movies and fairy tales are made of.
So what’s a human to do with all this madness going on ?
Pause.
Just stop what you are doing, go grab a lawn chair and sit in the back yard. You may also want to fill up he tub with a whole bottle of lavender essential oil and sit in it until you skin gets wrinkly. Find your favorite book and re-read it. AGAIN.
Cocoon and nurture. Cozy, non-restricting clothing and yummy food and beverages. Satiny pillowcases. Low gentle music or even white noise. Maybe no noise (depending on where you live). I’ve got birds in the trees as my background music while I paint.
When it all gets too much, talk to someone. A friend or cousin. Over chips and guacamole. Iced coffee.
BTW, I’m here if you need an ear to listen to you. I’ve got birdies in the background (my office is on the second story) and I’m surrounded by trees.
Call me and we can plan their wedding. JK JK.
