The scam artists that are known as psychics who have those questionable advertisements and neon lit storefronts are getting wise to investigations and allegations of fraud.  This is not the first time I heard of it and someone came to me for a consultation and this is what she shared with me (names removed to protect client):

“I’m suspecting (psychic name removed) the one at (store name removed) Mart in Sacramento who did my work last year. She is stopping (name removed) from responding because she wants materials every month for cleansing. I paid her last year for the work that she did and worked with her till the black (apparently on candles) was removed. (name removed) did responded several times by emails and phone calls

Whenever I told her that (name removed) responded I have noticed just in few days (name removed) will completely stop talking to me then she ( the psychic) will call me to find out hows the communication going. I will tell her that he stopped responding. Then (psychic name removed) will tell me that she will need to do some work and she needs 8 big bottles of Caress shower gel. I gave them to her once then one month later she does the same thing another 8 big bottles. Not only that she asked me to give her bed sheets to bring him home then Pine-Sol and again she wanted the shower gel to do the work. I said enough (psychic name removed). I understand what you are doing. I ended up giving her 16 bottles of Caress shower gels. She sold the skinny candles for $40 to $60 each that she is getting for only $1.50 to $2.00. After completing my work last year she kept our photos. I guess that’s how she was able to pull me back and stopped (name removed) to come around so she can use me to get lots of things. I told her that I have appreciated the work you have done for us and thanks a lot for the time. I have paid you off for the work way before you finished my work and I have given you lots of things that you don’t actually need to do the work. I said I know you are stopping him to come around and I’ m not a rich girl that can afford to buy products for you every time. She was shocked that i was able to tell her that and was little bit scared. I respected you and loved you but if you cannot be honest with me then i cannot work with you (psychic name removed).”

So apparently the psychic was asking for household products and in this way, the client would be too embarrassed to go to the police and report that she was giving body wash, sheets and Pine-Sol to her, especially when the ‘psychic’ could allow the police to enter her home/business and then ask, “OK, so where is her body wash? I buy Caress body wash all the time!”, thus making the allegations of fraud false and perhaps setting up the client to have to respond to allegations of character defamation in Court.

Sadly, you can also read that the client was being charged up to $60.00 for candles to be burned for her. Yes, a spiritual worker does have to charge something for the products she uses and the time and effort in the candle burning services, but they need to charge a nominal rate. In addition, this client did not know if the candles were indeed burnt as she did not have proof that the work was done. This is why good, reputable and ethical readers, root workers and spiritual workers will have evidence that the work was done (photographs or candle receptacles). Unfortunately for this client, she is out a couple of hundred dollars and no proof of work being done.

Notice I did not use the word “Gypsy” because of all the newest reality television shows about the true Travelers and Romni peoples, that are labeled “gypsies”, and are clumped into a group with those people of dark haired, dark eyed nationalities or racial/ethnic makeup who cheat people. These cheating people, labeled “gypsies” as well, are those who work/consult a distraught person who has had a serious disappointment for money in the disguise of ‘truly caring’ and ‘helping them’.

Another case of Caveat Emptor.

Again, when pressured into buying something or providing something while your heart is breaking or you know you have to bring dinner to the table that night, make sure you step back from the situation and ask yourself if you are truly being serviced correctly by ethical workers or being pressured into doing something you will later regret. Honest and ethical spiritual workers, readers, root workers, spell casters and such will do these things:

1.) Call you back within a day or so from receiving your voice mail.

2.) Respond to an e-mail within a day or so or will state how long you must wait for answer.

3.) Provide a physical address in which to go (in this clients case, the ‘psychic’ was in a large mall that resembles an indoor flea market)

4.) If on the Internet, will show you photos of herself and her work (still photos or videos)

5.) Will have a refund policy on cancellations of consultations or use a trusted third-party credit card processing system to negotiate any disputes (like PayPal). This way, if the buyer (client) claims they did not receive services, the seller or spiritual worker can respond and submit proof such as photos and e-mails of communication between buyer and seller.
